About us

Built on Personal Experience. Driven by Educational Opportunity.

Ontario Academic Consulting helps individuals confidently navigate Canada’s postsecondary education system and make informed decisions about their academic and professional futures.

Who we are

Personalized guidance through Ontario’s postsecondary system

Ontario Academic Consulting is a Mississauga-based educational consulting organization. We help high-school graduates, mature students, newcomers, refugees and career changers understand their options at Canadian public universities, public colleges and private career colleges — and take the next step with confidence.

Our work grows out of experience supporting students since 2020: educational planning, program selection, college and university admissions, and navigating student financial assistance. Every consultation is one-to-one and starts with your background and goals, because no two students have the same circumstances.

Our story

From one student’s journey to a commitment to many

Ontario Academic Consulting was built on a personal understanding of how challenging it can be to navigate an unfamiliar educational system.

Our founder, Majdi Nawfal, came to Canada as a Syrian refugee and experienced firsthand the challenges of rebuilding a life in a new country. For newcomers, the Canadian education system can be overwhelming: different types of institutions, admission requirements, previous academic credentials, financial assistance programs and career pathways all create uncertainty. Even people who completed higher education in their home countries may struggle to understand how their qualifications relate to Canadian opportunities.

Through his own educational journey, Majdi developed a detailed understanding of the Canadian postsecondary system — and recognized that many others, particularly refugees and newcomers, faced the same difficulties. What began as personal experience became a commitment to helping others.

In 2020, Majdi established Edittive Inc. Through years of working directly with students, he built practical experience in educational planning, program selection, college admissions, financial assistance navigation and academic decision-making, along with relationships and trust within Ontario’s refugee and newcomer communities. Ontario Academic Consulting now brings this experience together under a dedicated educational consulting brand.

Our Mission

To empower individuals through accessible, personalized and reliable educational guidance — helping them navigate Canada’s postsecondary education system, make informed academic decisions and pursue pathways aligned with their ambitions and circumstances.

We are committed to reducing unnecessary barriers to education, particularly for refugees and individuals who lack the knowledge, resources or support networks to navigate the system independently.

Our Vision

To become a trusted educational consulting organization in Ontario, recognized for helping students from diverse backgrounds access suitable educational opportunities, achieve their academic goals and build stronger professional futures.

We envision a society in which people can make informed educational decisions regardless of their background, age, previous education or familiarity with Canada’s postsecondary system.

Our community commitment

Education as part of a broader journey

We believe education contributes to personal development, financial independence, community participation and long-term economic opportunity. With the right guidance, people are better equipped to find suitable programs, understand financial obligations, avoid unnecessary setbacks and pursue qualifications that support their ambitions.

Access to education is only one part of settlement and integration. Refugees and newcomers may also need support from institutions, settlement organizations, language programs, employment services and community resources. Ontario Academic Consulting complements these services with specialized educational navigation expertise.

That is why our educational consulting is free for eligible refugees, and why private career college registration assistance is free for all eligible students. Learn about free consulting for refugees.
